New Students
New students are always welcome at Balanced Yoga. We offer classes for students at all levels, from beginners to more advanced students. Regardless of your experience, our instructors will encourage you to explore how yoga can enhance the quality of your life. Think of our studio as a sanctuary, a nurturing and supportive environment where you can develop your skills, release tensions, build body strength and discipline, and gain greater awareness of your true self. Above all, we offer a caring, non-competitive environment where you can relax, work up a sweat and have fun.

Welcome to Balanced Hot Yoga.
We’ve been called “New Haven’s hottest new yoga studio" and you will find we are not just another “hot yoga” experience. We offer a nurturing environment where, through a number of different yogic practices ranging from hot vinyasa to cooling yin, students at all levels can discover the mental and physical benefits of holding and flowing poses. We recognize that each student who comes to us is in a different place. There is no “right” or “wrong” in our studio. There is no “competition” in our studio. There is only a shared desire to help find greater awareness of our true selves. Our hope is that by cultivating awareness through disciplined breathing and precise movement, you will leave our studio feeling healthier, happier and inspired. Our goal is that you will also discover the power of yoga to cleanse your mind so it will shine like a diamond. Above all, as the ancient Sanskrit greeting suggests, we honor the spirit and sacredness of all who come to study with us: Namaste.

Why Yoga?

The regular practice of yoga has been shown to have a number of significant health benefits including long-term weight management, improved lung function, improved body alignment and posture, improved mobility, as well as greater strength and flexibility. For many, yoga also nourishes the nervous system, awakens the senses, and helps them connect with their true selves.

Why Hot Yoga?

The practice of yoga in a heated environment has several important benefits. The warmth helps increase your flexibility by warming your tissues and muscles. You also burn more calories and release toxins. Other benefits include improved skin tone, reduced stress, improved cardiovascular function and decreased blood pressure. Many students also report relief from back pain, arthritis, headaches and other forms of pain.

How Is Our Hot Yoga Studio Different?
Many hot yoga studios offer Bikram Yoga, a discipline that includes only 26 specific postures and is conducted in a room heated to 105º F. We offer a much more varied range of practices, and our studio is heated to 90º.

We offer a variety of classes at Balanced Yoga because we believe in the intrinsic healing power of all forms of asana as well as the lifestyle lived by the yogi/yogini.  We strongly encourage you to try out all our classes to get a feel for what speaks to your mind, body, and spirit!  Our experienced teachers are more than happy to address any concerns you may have.  For a full listing of our class offerings, click here!
